2008 TOB ACC CHAMPIONSHIP SITE:
 
Saturday-Sunday, November 8-9, 2008

As you know, we had used Lackawanna Stadium (Montage) for almost 20 years and were spoiled by the venue and accommodations. But for almost 20 years before that TOB utilized many larger high school stadiums with great success - and we built one of the finest marching band associations through all those years.

Our current plan was to utilize the facilities of Spring-Ford for the 2008 ACC Championship, while we continue to search for a venue of appropriate stature to host in 2009 and beyond. Unfortunately, the administration has denied the request for its use.  We are in the process of locating a replacement site.  As soon as the information is available, it will be posted and communicated.  A campus that can provide turf field (a necessity),  bus parking, warm-up and suitable concessions for TOB bands and supporters. 
 
There are many considerations when selecting a stadium for this event, as many of us discovered last year while using Del State/Dover HS. Stadium schedules and reliability, parking, staging, concessions, seating, bathrooms, neighborhoods, highway access, and more are part of the check list.

We would encourage you, as the band directors of TOB, to explore possibilities and make suggestions (with possible contacts) to your chapter coordinators and regional directors. 

NOTE:  A hard copy of a complete Herald will be sent via email to all members by mid June.  ACC registration, ACC ticket requests, Ad sheets and current membership roster will be a part of this mailing.  Please advise any updates that need to be made for the future.

    A/Novice/Middle School/ Junior Instructor Seminar
     
     

    The Indoor clinic will be schedule shortly.  The new sub-division criteria/scoring  for the A class approved at the congress are currently being reviewed for incorporation into the rulebook.

    Unit directors & staff members are always invited to attend these clinics.

    Workshop normally include the following types of sessions:

    • Interpreting the sheets: What do they REALLY mean?
    • Visual Design - Marching Percussion
    • Visual Design - Majorettes
    • Running a Successful Indoor Contest
    • Preparing for a Critique
    • Designing for A Class Units
    • Understanding the new 7/13 scoring approach on IA Movement & Equipment for Novice, A, Jr., Middle School units
    • Designing for Open Class Units

    Year 2009 applications are available by request through TOB Email ( tob@paonline.com ). Dates are May 1, 2, 2009.  Packages can include the Indoor Championship along with the Instrumental Championship.  Applications are also distributed in the Fall Herald.  Performances will be scheduled starting on Friday, then Thursday, and then Wednesday, if needed based on the number of registrations. 

     

    TOB CONGRESS MEETING

    The TOB representatives will meet tentatively March 1, 2009 for the semi-annual Congress.   Start time is 11:00 AM.

    Proposals should be sent to your Chapter Coordinator. 

     

     

    TOURNAMENT INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIP

    Registrations for the 2009 Indoor Championships will be  posted at www.tob.org/index04e.htm   2009 Registrations will begin in January 2009

    '08 FALL CLINIC

    Clinic dates are August 16 & 17, 2008

    Mandatory for judges and all band directors are welcomed and encouraged to attend.

    Saturday, August 16 will be held at Mechanicsburg HS with registration at 9 AM.
     
    Sunday, August 17 will be held at Williamstown HS, Williamstown, NJ with registration starting at 9 AM

    CONTRACTS

    Contract are included in issues of the Herald that are sent to TOB members. If you do not receive one and want to host an event, go to the schedule pages of either Indoor or Marching  Band web page. You will be able to print a copy of a contract  by first downloading Adobe Acrobat Reader (this is a free download). All instructions are on the schedule pages. The current schedules for Indoor and Outdoor are posted on the web and updated as contracts are received. Please note: The number of events on a given date will be subject to acceptance based on unit and judge availability. You may have to be prepared to have alternative dates should there be a problem with the original date submitted. Updates will be sent to Chapter Coordinators periodically or you can check on the Web Page @ www.tob.org.
